    Flight time is approx – 5 hours 40 minutes

    Hawaii is 2 hours earlier than California

    Flight time varies by headwinds … generally (the first poster is correct) the time in the air is about 5 hours, add 10 to 15 minutes to taxi on each end.

    Now, that will usually be longer in the winter and shorter in the summer due to the jetstream (winds aloft). But the stronger winds that add time to your trip TO Hawaii will shorten the return. I have been on several flights from Honolulu back to SF in the 4 hour to 4 hour and 15 minute range.

    I live in Hawaii.

    SFO-HNL 5 hours, 34 minutes. Time is often off by 15 minutes.

    About 5 hours. The time change is two hours earlier in HI than in SF.
