Coming to Honolulu for my birthday from Australia any ideas for inexpensive ‘touristy’ things to do?

sag_kat2chat asked:

I am travelling out of my big beautifull ‘Island’ Australia for the first time for my 60th birthday. I am doing it on a ‘no frills’ budget as I want to ‘experience’ being in Honolulu from my own self. I am going to cruise around the Islands stopping off here and there. What is your favourite place or thing to do in your country?
Thank you everyone for your answers I will definitely put together a list of ‘must do’s’ from what you all have suggested.

I am sure I will have a great time whilst there.

Shop at the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet Wed., Sat., Sun., 1000′s of items for sale many brand new, good prices & food. You can easily catch “The Bus” there. Honolulu has an excellent bus system, $2/ride or buy a weekly pass it’s cheaper.
    ~ enter “free” or “events”

Arizona Memorial is almost mandatory but the wait is 2 hrs. 7 days/week starting at 6:30 am by noon no more tickets available it is free; the USS
Missouri has a small fee but not so long lines. the local paper has listings for free or inexpensive activities

You definitely have to check out the North Shore beaches, it is hilarious to watch people battle the 10 foot waves, also snorkling in Hanauma Bay, and a trip to Pearl Harbor is a must, it is creepy to still see oil in the water. Also, the swap meets, be sure to wear comfortable shoes, it goes on forever, and the Dole Plantation they have the best Pineapple ice cream you will ever taste…

    Hike up Diamond Head
    Waikiki Aquarium
    North Shore
    Hawaii Nature Center
    Swap Meet
    Arizona Memorial
    Hawaiian Music shows
    Dole Plantations

Just a note Hawaii by it self is not a country it is a part of the United States.
