Birthday in Hawaii?

Smalls asked:

My bf is turning 21 late may, and we will be in honolulu, hawaii. I want to plan a day filled of fun things to do, any suggestions? I want it to be a suprise so I’m thinking something fun during the day, a nice dinner, club later? Help me plan something special for him that i can do at the same time, since i’m 20. Thanks a lot!

During the day you could hike up Diamond Head and give him his present at the summit. It’s gorgeous up there and the view goes on forever! Not a difficult hike at all, just remember to take water for each of you and wear comfortable shoes.

You could spend the rest of the day relaxing on the beach and maybe even taking a catamaran ride. The cats pull right up onto Waikiki Beach and it’s usually about $20 per person for an hour ride. Really fun!

For dinner, go somewhere nice like Ruth Chris Steak House (in Honolulu — not right in Waikiki so you’ll need to take a cab) or one of the oceanfront restaurants in Waikiki. I like the Surf Room at the Royal Hawaiian. Gorgeous views and excellent food and service.

As for clubs, you must be 21. I don’t know what to tell you about that. Maybe you could just go to Duke’s (in the Outrigger Waikiki) to listen to music. It’s right on the beach and the atmosphere is great. Or if you decide to eat at the Surf Room, you could just walk next door to the Mai Tai Bar — you can sit there even if you’re not of age. They have great drinks that come in a pineapple — very touristy, but fun. They usually have music and hula and it’s just beautiful.

Diamond head is Free and from the top is a really nice view. also you could go swimming with the dolphins at the Sea Life Park. and for dinner you need to experience a hibachi grill, some good ones are Kobes steak house and Tanaka of Tokyo West.
