Why you should order Thyroid levels.

Thyroid levels include TSH, T4, and T3 in the human body. Linked to molecules, T3 and T4 in the blood is synced to protein molecules. The bodys true thyroid levels are defined by the free T4 and free T3. Thyroid levels represent active hormone present to act with receptors of cells in ones body.

Thyroid levels are low in hypothroidism. Excess TSH is released by the pituitary gland and thyroid levels of TSH rise. Thyroid tests are performed when blood TSH thyroid levels are low, often kept down to levlels below 0.01 mIU per L, hyperthyroidism occurs. Patients with abnormal thyroid levels or thyroid function may have normal TSH levels in beginning stages of dysfunctional thyroid. Because of this, an FT4 and FT3 thyroid level needs to be analyzed.

T4 is primarily produced in the gland of the thyroid with only small amounts of T3. The liver produces the majority of T3 available in the body because of the of T4 to T3 conversion.

What is the intpretation of all of this thyroid level talk? An elevated TSH result is often due to hypothyroidism, or an underactive thyroid. Hyperthyroidism, or an overactive thyroid, can result in a low TSH result.
