When I lived there it was a safe place to live. I would walk there in midnight and I feel safe. I haven't seen any problem. There's always a police person walking that beat. Just don't flex your muscle, and you'll be alright. Watch out for the mahus if you're not into that. Downtown is a bit more chic now since I have resided there. People with drug problems (talking mostly about meth) tend to stay away from such place.

By far the best site for rentals is "Vacation Rentals By Owners" vrbo.com. The have hundreds of listings, many of which are at brand name resorts for much less than the going rack rates. Compare and see, I am sure you will find what you are looking for. We always find something to our liking when visiting the islands, or anywhere else for that matter.

They also have large condos you can rent. Check out one of the timeshare companies like RCI or try. We rented a three bedroom two bath condo and there was a cookout area and a small deck and lots of people to hang out with around the pool. Some of them have bands on Saturdays and activities.

I love Alan Wong's. They have consistently wonderful food, and you can bet that anything you order will be to your liking. Also, MIchele's might be a nice place to go, since it will have the romantic setting of being right on the water.

Happy Vday :)

Create a video blog...instantly.

Keo's, if you like Thai. Also, I recommend Kobe, A Japanese steak house. I loved their Sukiyaki beef. They have good Miso soup and sushi too. Kobe was reasonably priced as was Keo's. Sorry, I'm not a fan of Todai. Its a nice thought because you get a lot of variety, I didn't like the food. It tasted cheap, because it's a buffet and the sushi was unflavorful.

There is supposed to be a violinist for this year's Valentine's Day. And they have escargot, half glasses of wine too.

Check out the Chart House in the Ilikai Marina. It over looks
the Ala Wai yacht harbor. Good food, nice view, very good service. If you go, make reservations early and ask for the lanai tables, either 1,2,3. they're for 2 people. And ask for Alan, Rick or Tony as your waiter. They'll take care of you. Just take care of them, when you pay the bill.
